Journeying Through the North Island
Spent the last two days driving from KatiKati to Wellington- a drive I haven't done for a while, and may not do for along time to come.
Had to stop at a few favourite spots on the way:
The view of Waikato coming down the Kaimais
Huka Falls
Lake Taupo
Poutu Canal (a joke from school trips of years gone past)
Mt Ruapehu from Desert Road
Lookout between Mangaweka and Ohingaiti- looking down on the old road bridge we used to drive over when we lived at Rangiwahia
And of course the great waterfront view as you drive into Wellington!

Last Day in Perth
My last day in Perth was spent visiting a couple of very nice shops, mooching in the pool with a book and a beer
and then taking Mark and Ang out for dinner
The final part of the evening was visiting Lake Leschenaultia just on sunset. What a beautiful place.
The drive through wholesale! |
Lady comes to car, give her order |
she brings beer, pay her with mobile eftpos |
go home get in pool, drink beer |

Mandurah
Again, my booked tour didn't work out- not enough people want to do tours in 40 degree January heat in Perth apparently!
So Ang suggested I catch the train into Perth and then the train down to Mandurah for the day.
What an amazing place- I just stayed around the foreshore.
Great little markets, and eateries.
Went on a boat tour for an hour of the canals and dolphin spotting. Wow- there is certainly some money tied up in those canals.
And before getting back on the train the speciality chocolate shop had to be visited and a slice tried out!
